The Men Of Firehouse 44

                                                                   Bret and Adrianne's Story

 

Bret Watson joined the fire department after his tour in Iraq was over.  Sure they had given him the option of extending his tour, but he had seen enough tragedy and death to last a life time.  He hated leaving his brothers behind, but mentally, he didn’t think he could do it any longer.  The nightmares were few and far between now, but when he did have them, it would be days before he slept again.  

 

Of course, Bret being the hottie that he is, was used to getting hit on by women.  But when he walked into the new restaurant next to the fire house to inspect it, he hadn’t intended on running in to Twenty four year old Adriane.  There was something about the way her long blonde hair and blue eyes bedazzled him.  And what was worse, she acted as if she weren’t even interested in him. Which only peaked his interest in him even further.

 

Adriane was expecting someone other than Bret.  Although his looks definitely made the process of inspection easier, she wouldn’t let herself get wrapped up in to any more drama when she was just now making her dream a reality.  Getting rid of her ex had been enough drama to last a life time and she wasn’t ready for anything now.
Mind strong, she ignored him completely unless asked a question.  But when Bret threatens to fail her inspection, she just loses it.

 

Crying hysterically, she couldn’t control herself.  She had worked so hard to get where she was and because of some stupid fire law, she wouldn’t be able to open.  Or so she thought.

 

Bret, feeling sorry for her, and wanting to get to know her better, offers to lend a hand when he finds out she doesn’t have any family in town and had sank every last penny she had in to the opening.

 

Adriane a bit hesitant at first, accepts his offer as she has no one else to turn to.
